Did you see a bulletin say

there could be a big announcement to come that could have big repercussions in the football world?

Floyd Mayweather Mayweather shakes his team’s hand after his last fight in 2015 after losing to Manny Pacquiao. Why it mattered…

Louis van Gaal had already enjoyed success as a coach when he won the league title in 1996 as manager of Ajax. What about playing at Old Trafford? Louis had a bad night in his first Champions League game in Europe but it was after a two-goal defeat by Juventus that was later the subject of an extraordinary apology from Paulo Di Canio.

Did you remember these?

Prior to a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in the final of the 1991/92 European Cup Winners’ Cup final – when he converted a glorious penalty in stoppage time – Didier Drogba had picked up two yellow cards in his side’s previous three games. The Ivory Coast striker was sent off in the final of the tournament.

And it wasn’t only Drogba who was sent off.
